To catch everyone up...

It's a couple of days before the setting of the house on the foundation...  I copied over some posts from our (old) house building blog.  So this is a new beginning with a new builder.

So one post I wanted to copy over is about what we wanted in our retirement house:
  • Large Mudroom with access to a shower / toilet. (that was lacking in almost every house plan)
  • Door to the outside from the kitchen to reach herbs / compost / grill.
  • Lots of windows on south side (semi-passive solar).
  • Simple plan the width of 2 modular sections. (with a compact plumbing layout for a few reasons)
  • 3 beds and 2 bathrooms, around 1500 sqft which worked out to be 56' long.
  • Energy efficient, air sealed, super insulated. (which is why we went with modular)
  • Low maintenance single floor plan but with a basement for plenty of space.
  • Roof had to be solar panel friendly.  (which is a 5/12 roof pitch)
There are many features that we like about our home now that we wanted in this new house.  Also, there were a few features we wanted to add...  wide open living space for one.  We added on to our current house in 1996...  we went over board on the size of the master bedroom and figured out; we only sleep there.  Looks nice but it's wasted space...

Definitely worried that I made the bedrooms too small in this house but we'll see in a few days!!!  Enough for now hopefully, photos of setting the house is next!
